From
breeding a pair of "normal looking"
siblings that were sired by the "Platty
Daddy".........I want to
see if the Platty has a "hidden"
recessive gene that makes him appear
the way he does?.........so I figure
breeding any of his offspring together
should show me that gene............if
it is there??................ain't
it fun!!.........;)...........( 01

From
breeding my "Butter Ball"
male to a normal female............Mark
and Kim Bell also have a "Butter
Ball"...........theirs and mine
were both imported from Africa and
are both males............the Bell's
have produced from their male.............so
far it is a dominant gene............so
I expect to see some baby "Butters"
in this clutch.......;) ( nf # 1 )
Here

STATUS:
Hatched |
2.6 baby "Butters" and 1.1
normal looking "Butter Sibs"
hatched on 7/23/03............I finally
produced from my wild caught "Butter
male"!!...........these are extremely
similar to my "Lesser Plattys"..............is
the Butter a Lesser?.............who
knows??.............this is a brand
new bloodline for sure.........I will
have to see how the colors in the
Butters look as they mature.............they
do resemble Lessers at the moment.............but
they seem to be slightly different
in color..............anyway...........I'm
totally stoked to finally produce
from my stubborn Butter male........;)............only
one pair of these will be sold this
year........this is as fresh as it
gets.............:) ..............here
is a pic of a nice pile
of snakies..........;)

From
breeding a "Lesser
Platty" male to a normal
looking "sibling" female
( both were sired by the Platty Daddy
).............I'm hoping to reveal
a "hidden gene"..............I'm
wondering if the Platty
Daddy is also homozygous for a
simple recessive trait that makes
him look so different from his "lesser"
offspring??.............I would expect
more "Lessers" from this
clutch...........and who knows what
else????????? ( 01 platty sib f #
4 )
Here
is a pic of mom on her eggs |
|
STATUS:
Hatched |
2.1
Lesser Platty and 0.1 normal hatched
on 7/27/03.....one egg went bad...........so
Lesser Platty bred to a normal or
anything else DOES produce
more Lessers...........this breeding
was to a Lesser Sibling female............I
was hoping to see "another morph"
in this clutch..............I have
two more tries of this type of breeding
to see if the Platty gene will expose
another "hidden trait".......;)

From
breeding a "Granite
/ Speckled" male to a "
Granite / Speckled" female.............both
were raised from babies out of Africa...........who
knows what the heck to call these
things?............I think they are
pretty and could be made better (
if genetic? )............More "Dinking
Around!!" ( spec/str f # 1 )
Here

STATUS:
Hatched |
2.2 hatched on 7/28/03..............3
of these babies are "Granites"...............who
knew??...............three of these
babies look exactly like the mom..........I
believe that dad had nothing to do
with it............he has sired clutches
before producing nothing but normal
looking babies..........or did I get
two of the same "lined up"...........I
would say no............I would say
that this is dominant for now..............maybe
a "Super Granite" will look
like a Granite Burm??...............cool
stuff!!...........I have been "dinking"
with the Granites for several years
............actually joking about
them..........and here they are!!
