Genetic
Morph: Phantom
Status: Proven Co-Dominant
When: 2005
By Whom: Ralph Davis
The Phantom is a very "vague"
mutation that kinda happened by accident
...............I raised an African baby
( the original Phantom mom ) and bred her
to my Goblin male because she kinda looked
like him ( 2001 )............I was only
trying to get the Goblin project started.......I
really wasn't even concerned with the Phantom
mom because she was not very aberrant.......I
ended up breeding the original Phantom mom
to the Goblin male two years in a row...........both
years I produced Phantoms, Normals and what
I call "Markers"..............these
" Markers" had a lot of the Goblin
traits in the sides and the belly scales................and
they were a very pretty burnt orange color............I
was stoked that the Phantoms were genetic
but they were nothing special in my eyes...............now
the "Markers" were what I though
were special and I figured they came from
the Goblin father............so the Goblin
project was looking really good. For the
two years I kept everything that came out
of the Goblin x Phantom breedings...........even
the normal looking offspring............my
plans were to breed the Goblin male back
to all of his daughters..............by
the way.............a few of the Phantoms
were also "Markers"............you
could see that they were Phantoms with that
burnt orange color and some Goblin traits................why
are all my projects so damn confusing???................:).......I
let the Goblin male have the breeding season
off in 03............I decided since the
Phantom was co-dom I would breed it into
another co-dom morph to produce some kind
of cool "cross".........so I used
a Lesser Platty male to breed against my
two Phantom females................I didn't
think the results would be too great only
because the Phantom is so drab looking.
I
hatched eggs from the original Phantom mom
and her 01 Phantom daughter in 2003........and
both clutches produced Leucistic ball pythons??............the
Original mom's clutch produced normals,
Phantoms, Lessers and a Lucy................her
Phantom daughter's clutch produced two Lucys,
a Phantom and a normal............HOLY SHIT!!!
So
now I can't wait to breed Phantom x Phantom
and see if there is a "Super"
or more Lucys...........I almost didn't
put the two morphs together thinking that
the Phantom would just make the Lesser darker...............man
am I glad I decided to go for it........ROCK
ON!!
You
can find more info about all of this on
the 2003
Birthing Record Page, clutch # 14 and
# 42, also the Platinum
"Collection" page and the Platinum
"Proven Traits" page
In
2005 I bred a Phantom / Lesser Lucy male
to a Phantom female and produced SUPER PHANTOMS
, Lucys, Lessers and Phantoms.........then
I bred a Phantom / Goblin Marker male to
a Phantom female and produced a "SUPER
PHANTOM Goblin Marker".........you
can read more about the clutch results on
the 2005
Birthing Record Page clutch # 2 and
# 91.
The
Phantom rocks!!!............and produces
one of the finest looking "Supers"
of any co-dom morph to date!!
