Genetic
Morph: Banded / Reduced Pattern
Status: "Could Be"
Dominant or Simple Recessive or
"Locality"
When: Past several years to present
By Whom: Several breeders and hobbyists
working in refining the trait
Like the Black Backs........the Banded or
"Reduced Pattern" is very variable
and not completely understood..........as
of now the Spider, Woma Morph and the Pinstripe
are the only "predictably banded /
reduced pattern" ball pythons..........I
have produced Bandeds like the clutch pictured
on this page through selective and line
breeding.........other breeders have produced
clutches of Banded babies as well................some
on purpose and some just with "luck"...........this
trait is definitely genetic and more than
likely co-dom or dom.......or maybe it is
a locality thing?.........the clutch I produced
in 2003 was a clutch entirely of Banded
Ball pythons through selective breeding
of African raised Banded ball pythons............it
will take some more years to "know"
you can produce Banded babies consistently
and predictably..............the Banded
trait will really go perfectly with all
the other traits in the ball python world.
